The popular excursion destinations, the small and large Montiggler lakes, are located between mixed and pine forests near Eppan. The large Montiggler lake is approx. 700 metres long and lies in a hollow of the Mitterberg. If the lakes freeze over in winter and the layer of ice is thick enough, they are often used as ice skating rinks.
